Couple tied up and robbed in their home

Police arrested two men in Primrose for allegedly robbing a house in Norman Road, Bedfordview.

The Primrose SAPS arrested two men for an alleged house robbery, last Friday.

The robbery took place in Norman Road, Bedfordview, where the complainant, who is a Chinese national, alleged that while they were busy cooking at about 11pm, they were confronted by three men, one of which was armed with a firearm.

The men demanded money and jewellery.

“The couple were tied up and the perpetrators took cellphones, jewellery and cash before fleeing on foot,” said WO Mduduzi Nhlabathi, communications officer for the Germiston SAPS cluster.

“The Bedfordview SAPS sector team was dispatched to the scene where they opened a case of house robbery. They also transmitted all the relevant information pertaining to the suspects through radio control.

“Within minutes, two of the suspects were apprehended in the Primrose area by the Primrose SAPS sector team and patrollers.”

The two suspects, aged 37 and 25 years old, were charged with possession of stolen property, by the Primrose SAPS.

They will also be charged at the Bedfordview Police Station for house robbery as the goods found in their possession have been positively linked to the house robbery.

They are due to appear in the Germiston Magistrates Court soon.
