Hawks discover dagga plantation

Members of the Hawks and National Cross Border Operations discovered a dagga plantation at a home in Symhurst Extention One.

A dagga cultivation hub was discovered in Symhurst Extention One on Friday morning.

The discovery was made when members of the Hawks and National Cross Border Operations executed a search warrant at a home in the area.

Two women and two men, aged between 18 and 38 years old, one of them a Nigerian national, were arrested.

It is alleged the accused were using their house as a greenhouse for cultivating cannabis.

Police found hundreds of dagga plants, air conditioners, extractor fans and lights which the suspects were allegedly using to cultivate the dagga.

The equipment was found in the main house, as well as external structures in the yard.

The suspects will appear before the Germiston Magistrates Court on charges of cultivating and dealing in cannabis.
