The metro wishes to inform residents and businesses that it is aware of the power supply interruption affecting Germiston North and its surrounding areas.
The interruption is due to an attempted cable theft incident that resulted in a cable fault at the Germiston North substation supplying power to the affected areas.
Technicians have assessed the severity of the damage and are currently carrying out repair work at the facility.
The areas that are affected are: Marlands, Tedstoneville, Wychwood, Germiston Extensions Eight and Nine, portions of Primrose, Fishers’ Hill, Solheim and Sunnyridge.
Power is expected to be restored by 8pm tonight.
The metro apologises for the inconvenience caused.
