Assumption assists with drought relief

Assumption Convent pupils collected bottles of water to send to the Free State to assist with drought relief efforts.

The Free State is one of the provinces hardest hit by the on-going drought.

In an effort to stop animals, and people alike, dying of dehydration and starvation the horse-riding community in Johannesburg appealed to the public to donate bottles of water to be sent to the province.

Assumption Convent School joined the drive and managed to collect 1 210.5 litres of water in a week.

The water was collected from the school by a Cedar Ridge Stables representative who delivered it to a central collection point.

The trucks, loaded with water left Johannesburg on Friday, January 22.

Assumption Convent School challenges all the schools in the area to get involved in the project and to make a difference.
