Two arrested during early morning burglary

Acting on a tip-off from the community EMPD officers arrested two alleged burglars.

During the early hours of last Friday morning, members of public noticed dodgy characters acting suspiciously at the entrance of Spar supermarket in Elsburg.

The EMPD Germiston Task Team members were alerted and went out to investigate.

“Upon their arrival at the supermarket, it was discovered that two suspects had broken into store.

“They were also found in possession of several house-breaking implements, including a high-tech ‘jammer’,” said Wilfred Kgasago, spokesman for the EMPD.

The “jammer” was tested at the police station and it was established that it could jam police radio signals and cellphones.

The two men, aged 34 and 37, who claimed they were from Vosloorus, were apprehended and charged with business burglary, at the Elsburg Police Station.
