Care for animals this festive season

Make a donation towards the Christmas Drive.

Primrose’s Loets Pets in a Tub has initiated a Christmas Drive for the Germiston SPCA.

The local pet and grooming salon’s founder, Loets Marthinus, told the GCN that the drive came about when she was thinking about the number of animals that are abandoned.

“The SPCA is the one place most of us think about when we pick up an abandoned animal,” said Marthinus.

“They already have a lot of animals to care for and the number of stray and abandoned animals increases during the festive season, which puts more pressure on them.

“It is for this reason, together with my love for animals, that I decided to have this drive, of which the SPCA has full knowledge and supports.

“I am reaching out to the community to help with this initiative.

“We are collecting animal food, blankets, leashes, leads and bowls; those are among the major requirements.

“The response I have received from some of my clients, so far, is amazing.

“I am humbled by the response and I hope we will have enough to deliver on the day of the handover, so that the SPCA can have enough to care for the animals.

“I know the donations will really help them a lot.

“People who are interested are welcome to drop off their donations at my shop, on the corner of Beaconsfield Avenue and Myrtle Street, in Primrose.

“We are open from Monday to Saturday, from 8am until 4pm.

“I added a bit of fun to it: anybody who donates the most will receive a free pampering groom for one pet.”

People have until November 28 to bring in their donations, as the handover will take place on that day.

“People are welcome to call me should they need to drop their contributions after hours,” added Marthinus.
