Community helps raise funds for the elderly

Local centre hosts successful fund-raising lunch.

Rest-a-While Service Centre for the Aged recently held a successful fund-raising lunch.

The event was sponsored by Mamba Security and the manager of Rest-a-While, Wendy Morgan, thanked Elaine Griffin (franchise owner), Shania Stevens and Charmaine Stevens from the company for helping to put together such a wonderful function.

The lunch, held at Rest-a-While, saw young and old alike enjoying a fun-filled day.

An amount of R3 245 was raised and then Elaine surprised Wendy by donating a further R3 000 from Mamba.

Wendy also thanked Misty Hills Spur for sending a team to entertain the children by doing face-painting and handing out colouring books, as well as Champ Food, for donating chips for the children.

She also thanked the community members who supported the project.

All the funds raised will go towards helping the elderly of Primrose.

The centre is also currently busy with its annual collection of non-perishable food and other necessary items (for example, toiletries) to make up parcels for the elderly for the December period.

Any donations would be greatly appreciated.

The centre is hosting a Christmas party for the elderly on November 28, at 2.30pm, with entertainment by Note’s Unlimited.

All elderly citizens of Primrose are welcome to attend, but booking is essential.

To book for the Christmas party or to make a donation contact Wendy on 011 828-3059 or 072 963 9675.
