Primrose police visit Dawnview High

Police speak to children about crime issues.

The social crime prevention team from the Primrose Police Station recently visited Dawnview High School.

Communications officer Sgt Styles Maome, accompanied by Primrose CPF Sector Three commander Sgt Kgomotso Seopa, visited the school to address several issues, including crime, bullying and substance abuse.

“As police we try to promote a safe learning environment,” said Maome after his visit to the school

“We are still experiencing problems with substance abuse at schools, especially pupils who smoke dagga and drink alcohol.”

An example of this was when two students, under the age of 18, were caught with dagga.

During his talk at the school Maome also warned the students that the abuse of senior citizens will not be tolerated.

This follows the arrest of a 15-year-old girl, who was recently charged with common assault, after she assaulted a 64-year-old teacher.

“We will not tolerate such behaviour,” said Maome.

The team ended the visit by wishing the Grade 12 students all the best for their final exams.
