Sensei receives sixth Dan

The Mark Strydom SA JKA Karate Club is thrilled about the sensei's recent achievement.

The Mark Strydom SA JKA Karate Club’s instructor, sensei Mark Strydom, was awarded his sixth Dan when he graded, recently.

“I was graded by sensei Mori Toshihiro and sensei Okuma Koichiro, who both travelled from Japan for the grading,” said Strydom.

“I am happy to have achieved this, I am very excited and already working towards the next level.”

Strydom was also the senior coach for the SA JKA Karate team which took part in the JKA African Karate Tournament at the Standard Bank Arena recently.

“The South African team took first place,” explained Strydom.

In other news, the local club, situated in Wychwood, is open to people interested in joining.

“More people are welcome to join the club, we train every Monday and Wednesday,” added Strydom.

“Our training sessions are split in two; the juniors practice from 5.30pm until 6.15pm, followed by the seniors from 6.15pm to 7.15pm.”
