Podium positions for Germiston Callies

Germiston Stadium hosts track and field event.

Germiston Stadium hosted one of Central Gauteng Athletics (CGA)’s Track and Field meetings, last Saturday.

Athletes from different parts of the country gathered at the stadium to showcase their talents and possibly even better their personal bests and make new records.

Among the athletes present were Germiston Callies athletes.

Marizhan van Zyl, Lemuel Klaasen, Samuel Gray and Pedro Aaron were the athletes representing Callies.

The local participants put their best feet forward and returned with impressive results.

  • Gray was first in three events, the u-13 100m; 200m and the 200m hurdles.
  • Klaasen also hit the finish line in first position in both the u-15 100m and 200m flat run.
  • Aaron seized a 6.85m first place in the u-17 long jump which was also his personal best. Aaron also finished second in two flat events, 100m and 200m.
  • Van Zyl placed second in the girls u-13 long jump.

“These are great and very impressive results,” said Germiston Callies’ Stephané Kotzé.

“All these athletes are young but they all managed to secure podium positions in their respective events.

“They work hard and it is pleasing to see their hard work rewarded.”
