Kim Field Academy to represent South Africa at this year’s Prague Dance Festival International competition

Principal at the school said the competition also gives their learners an opportunity to engage and learn from other children with different cultures.

A group of 10 young dancers from Kim Field Academy Primary School in Fourways said they couldn’t wait to represent South Africa in this year’s Prague Dance International competition.

The competition will be held in Prague, Czech Republic in June.

The head of school and dance coordinator at the school Kim Field said the school’s dance group qualified to participate in the competition in 2019 and did not go because it was cancelled as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic.

“We are excited that our dancers will finally get an opportunity to showcase their dance talent on the international stage. Our dancers will compete against other best dancers from different parts of the world. Kim Field Academy previously won this competition five times and we are hoping that this group will make us proud and bring home gold.”

She added the competition also allowed their learners to engage and learn from other children with different cultures.

A 12-year-old member of the group and Grade 6 learner Thongolam Phillip said she was hoping for nothing less than a gold medal in the competition. “Our aim is to continue where our brothers and sisters who were before us, left. They’ve shown us that there is no stage too big. We hope to bring home another gold medal and fly the South African flag high,” Thongolam said.
