Local drummer, songwriter and music director set to release his first solo music project early next year

The local drummer described his new solo project as as a combination of different South African music genres.

A Riversands-based self-taught musician, drummer and song writer, Siphiwe Kubheka will finally release his first single track titled Tembo later this year.

Kubheka, who has been part of the South African music industry as a drummer and producer for more than two decades, said he was inspired and mentored by a number of well-known local drummers and musicians such as Themba Mkhize and Sipho ‘Hotstix’ Mabuse in his journey.

“I started my music career by picking up a pair of drumsticks back in 1998 and not long after my first encounter with the sticks I got introduced to the stage on a Christmas Day church service to play drums. This experience paved the way and opened an opportunity for me to meet and work with different gospel artists and music brands such as Joyous Celebration.”

Local drummer, Siphiwe Kubheka plans to release his first solo music project in March of 2023.

This year, Kubheka started working on the solo project that he describes as a combination of different South African music genres.

“I am currently mixing my first single titled Tembo. I recorded the song with my former band Momentoz SA Music. The song is a fusion of Latin, Neo Soul and Mbhaqanga music genres. I’m looking to release it by March next year as my music gift to South African music lovers. I’m planning to release an Extended Play and album later next year.”

Local drummer, Siphiwe Kubheka is set to release his first single next year.

Kubheka said his single will be available on all digital music outlets soon after its release.
