Local dancer shines at the Strictly 5678 Showcase held at Silverstar Casino

DOUGLASDALE– The mother of the talented dancer said her daughter will not be part the team that will represent the country in Ireland in July this year because of her age.

A talented eight-year-old from Douglasdale, Ewa Zofia Socha, has given her mother, Tanya Socha, every reason to be very proud of her achievements as a dancer.

This was after Ewa was placed fourth for her lyrical solo and sixth for her acrobatics solo at the World Lyrical Dance Federation South Africa Competition in May this year and qualified to be part of the team heading to Ireland.

Tanya said her daughter will, however, not be part of the team that will represent the country in Ireland in July this year because of her age.

Ewa and her team recently scooped first place at the Strictly 5678 Showcase at the Barnyard Theatre in Silverstar Casino on June 4.

Tanya said the Grade 2 learner at Bryandale Primary School was not only an amazing dancer, but she was also a good learner in the classroom.

“Ewa has been dancing at the Ministry of Dance Studio from the age of three. She enrolled for modern dance and acrobatics and then also competes in the genres of acrobatics, modern, lyrical and musical theatre dance. She is really committed and not even lockdown and sports closures could stop her from attending her lessons even though it was online via Zoom.”

Tanya added that her daughter competed in a few competitions via video entry, which also gave her the opportunity to be able to compete internationally.
