DIEPSLOOT– Marota said she started acting at a tender age of 7 when she was doing Grade 1 in Thaduku Primary School in Ga-Molapo village in Limpopo.

Diepsloot-based up and coming actress, Patience Marota (23) has described acting as a true calling.

Marota landed her first acting role as Flora in a local theatre play, A wedding with broken family affairs. It was recently staged at Selaelo Chuene Arts Centre in Riversands.

Marota said she started acting at the tender age of seven when she was in Grade 1 at Thaduku Primary School in Ga-Molapo village in Limpopo.

“I used to narrate and perform book stories at school and at home. We didn’t have a theatre or a cinema where we could go and watch performances,” she added.

“I am currently doing third year of my LLB degree with Unisa but acting has always been my passion and I’ve always wanted to do both. “Playing Flora’s role in A wedding with broken family affairs gave me assurance that acting is indeed my calling. Acting is my passion and I always wanted to do it professionally.

“I’m deeply grateful that Umtonje Voyage Production gave me an opportunity to be part of their cast for this play. I really enjoyed the role of Flora and I am looking forward to my next role to explore my passion.”
