Diepsloot-based Sepedi music artist, songwriter and Sepedi cultural activist, Tau Sebata has released his third album, Mathotse with 14 tracks.

Sebata said he started playing indigenous music instruments at a very young age in his home village of Ga-Sekgopo in Limpopo.

“Growing up in a village, I had the privilege to learn how to play indigenous Sepedi music instruments. It was only in 2013 that I decided to record and release my first album with 12 tracks which received a very positive response from music lovers. In 2018, I released my second album titled Thabeng Tsa Mmanopi which scooped the best Sepedi album in the South African Traditional Music Awards,” he said.

Sebata added his newly released album had received a great response from traditional music lovers across the board.

“… Mathotse is already enjoying airplay from local, community and national radio stations. I am amazed and very grateful for the support I’ve received from music lovers, especially Sepedi traditional music. My music encourages people to go back to their roots.
“We must be proud of our music and we must encourage youngsters to do traditional music because it defines us and teaches other nations about us. I’ve toured many countries and performed in different international music events, showcasing the richness of our traditional music. In 2017, I went to Taiwan and I realised that people love our traditional music.”
