Local artist, Tshego, uses lockdown as opportunity to create new music

A local artist shared the details of his recently dropped EP which features South African talent.
Tshegofatso Ketshabile, better known as Tshego, said he accredits the EP – 3 Piece – to the Covid-19 lockdown, as he worked on a lot of his music during the initial lockdown last year.
He used the time spent at home as an opportunity to lock himself in and create music.
“I started the album when lockdown started. I then recorded a bunch of songs from which I started picking some of the other music to make 3 Piece because I have a certain sound I am going for on the album,” he said.
“It is not the usual sound that people are used to. So just to prepare them before the album dropped I decided, let me put some music together for the fans before that one comes.”
Ketshabile decided to only include three songs on the EP as a teaser for his album. He explained that the number of songs inspired the title of the album.
The album has features from Blxckie, Flvme and Shekinah. He added that fans could expect a more home-grown sound, something a little bit more South African.
“I am really trying to explore that side of myself.”
Ketsahabile concluded that he does not have a release date for his album yet but hopes to release it before the end of the year.
