Back with Sweet and Short 2.0
MIDRAND – Refiloe Phoolo better known as Cassper Nyovest aka Don Billiano released his sixth studio album titled Sweer and Shortt 2.0 on June 30.
Joburg north resident Refiloe Phoolo, better known as Cassper Nyovest, released his sixth studio album, Sweet and Short 2.0 on June 30.
The award-winning rapper said the 10-track album was a continuation of the exploration which began with his fourth studio album, Sweet and Short.
“On Short and Sweet 2.0, I made sure that I explored my voice within the amapiano genre, as I am known for pioneering the blending of hip-hop and the current dominant sound of the yanos [amapiano genre],” he added.
Phoolo has already proven the he can mix the genre as is evident in the singles Amanumber Ayi 10, Angisho Guys, and Siyathandana.
Ahead of the release, Phoolo hosted an activation which saw him aim for 10 000 people to add his album across all digital platforms.
He wrapped up the promotional campaign with a virtual activation and listening session on TikTok due to Covid-19 lockdown restrictions.
He concluded, “A description of the overall listening experience can be described as melodic singing to rapping between the pockets of rattling percussion.”
