Company geared to donate new school shoes to learners in KZN

FOURWAYS – As part of their Masiphumelele Campaign, Masithuthuke Holdings will be donating a number of new school shoes to learners in KZN in July.

Learners from a school in Kwa-Zulu Natal will be receiving new pairs of school shoes, thanks to an organisation near the Fourways area.

Masithuthuke Holdings, an organisation that offers training courses in skills and development training, reached out to a school in Ulundi to find out how many learners need shoes. Originally born in Gugulethu, CEO of Masithuthuke Holdings Liyanda Handula said the reason for their involvement was more from a personal standpoint as he came from humble beginnings.

“Being in skills development and going to public schools, you see kids going to school barefooted. We work in deep rural areas, and this is a common occurrence in these communities.

“Where I come from, it’s not a privileged area. Before the company started this initiative, I supported a school I used to attend with donations of stationery and books,” he said.

The donation forms part of the company’s Masiphumelele Campaign, a corporate social investment of the company which aims to donate various items to communities in need.

These include sanitary pads, school shoes and more.

Handula said after identifying the school in Ulundi, they are to be donating the 31 pairs of shoes on 8 July.

“We would love to do another initiative like this in the future. The reality is, especially in Covid times, we’ve been in a space where people are in need, hence many initiatives have been coming up

“We are looking at focusing in Cape Town, Johannesburg and Kwa-Zulu Natal in all our initiatives as we have projects in these areas. This gives us a chance to see where communities need help,” said Pandora Mabai, marketing specialist at Masithuthuke Holdings.
