DJ “Thia” set to mesmerise music lovers with her first album

DIEPSLOOT– Following a tough year in the entertainment industry last, Kubayi said her album will mesmerise music lovers and keep everyone on the dance floor.

Growing up in the small town of Arlington in the Free State with scarce opportunities and limited resources did not stop the young, upcoming local DJ, Cynthia ‘Thia’ Kubayi from dreaming big.

The 22-year-old female DJ, poet, vocalist and songwriter moved from Arlington to Diepsloot in 2008 to live with her parents and pursue her dream to be a music star.

“I came to Joburg in 2008 after my grandmother that I lived with passed away. I always had a dream to become a music DJ one day but due to the scarcity of opportunities and resources in Arlington, I could not make my dream come true there,” she said.

“When I moved to Diepsloot, I started working on realising my dream. I went to do some classes on how to mix sound.”

Kubayi has performed at different events in and around Johannesburg for the past few years, keeping music lovers on their feet with her unique music sound.
