Keep up to date with projects in your ward

MIDRAND – Sipho Masigo said that the Community-Based Planning sessions will be about planning with communities and moving with communities.

The City of Johannesburg Council has called on community members in Region A to attend their virtual Community-Based Planning outreach sessions starting on 19 February.

Sipho Masigo, spokesperson for the Office of the Speaker, Nonceba Molwele, explained that the meetings are to ensure active participation of citizens.

Masigo added that these sessions allow residents to take part in the decisions that the municipality makes on their behalf. “It is basically about planning with communities and moving with communities… We have a people-centred government, therefore development must be guided by the livelihoods and the needs of communities.”

Masigo said the programme would touch on development, planning, projects around creating jobs, fixing and building facilities and maintenance.

“These meetings can be attended using Wi-Fi, we do have a list of connectivity spots on the City of Johannesburg’s website, these include parks, libraries and schools, so our residents do not have to miss out because they do not have Internet connectivity,” Masigo concluded.

Region A Community-Based Planning sessions will be scheduled as follows:

• 19 February session from 1pm to 3pm will be focused on wards 80, 92, 110, 111 and 115A.
