The BMW X7 was first announced in 2014 only to be unveiled globally in 2018. The flagship model is the first Sports Activity Vehicle in the luxury segment for BMW and has garnered a lot of attention since its local debut. Further bolstering the exclusivity of the large SAV is the introduction of the Dark Shadow Edition which combines a sporty but imposing appearance with the luxury of the traditional model.

The most noticeable addition to the X7 is the Frozen Arctic Grey metallic finish on the exterior. It is the first time this BMW Individual paint finish has been made available on a BMW X model. The German automaker plans to make available additional variants of the special BMW Individual paint finish as an optional item for the X7, X6 and X5 models.

The special edition is limited to about 500 units worldwide and can be specified with all engines available to the X7 range. The collectors’ vehicle sees the addition of high gloss black finishes on the side window surrounds, the covers of the B and C columns and the exterior mirror bases while the frame and the bars of the BMW kidney grille, the Air Breathers and the tailpipe covers of the exhaust system are finished in black chrome.

Also included with the edition model is the M sports package which sees to it that bodywork elements come in a sporty and aerodynamically optimized design. Finishing off the overall look on the exterior are 22-inch M light-alloy wheels in V-spoke design fitted with mixed tyres and finished in a Jet Black matt finish.

Customers can specify the exclusive model with either six or seven seats. The dark yet sporty theme is carried through to the interior where the front occupants benefit from electrically adjustable comfort seats with memory function as well as an M leather steering wheel. Further bolstering the luxury is a full Merino leather upholstery finished in Night Blue and Black tones with contras seams.

The roofline comes in finished in Alcantara with a Night Blue colour tone which matches with the upper part of the instrument panel and the armrests finished in nappa leather of the same colour. The interior incorporates Fineline Black with aluminium inlays while the centre console area comes with Piano Black surfaces and edition logo.

Production of the BMW X7 Dark Shadow Edition will commence from August 2020 at the BMW plant in Spartanburg, USA. Availability and pricing will be revealed closer to the local introduction of the BMW X7 Dark Shadow Edition.
