A healthier recipe for banana loaf

Banana bread seems to be the baked good of choice for people in lockdown. If you have some bananas that are about to go off, why not try this easy and delicious recipe?

A healthier Banana Loaf recipe

Ingredients:

3 very ripe bananas

1/2 cup honey

3 tablespoons canola oil, plus a little more for oiling the loaf pan

1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract

1 1/2 cups whole wheat flour

1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda

1/4 teaspoon salt

3/4 cup chopped walnuts or 3⁄4 cup chocolate chips

Method:

Most banana bread recipes are saturated with butter and sugar. This one uses a small amount of canola oil instead – which is much better for your heart. Substitute the sugar with honey and you get added flavour. Don’t use regular whole-wheat flour if you can help it. It is too heavy for this recipe. Look for whole-wheat pastry flour instead.
