Are you game for the BIG 5

PAULSHOF – Get ready to start laughing now that the Big 5 Comedy Show is on its way back to the Teatro Theatre at Montecasino.

You may have heard about the Big Five before but the show coming to Montecasino is a different kind of animal all together.

The Big 5 Comedy Show is back again and will be on at the Teatro Theatre, Montecasino, on 26 and 27 July when doors open at 7.30pm. The event brings together a number of South Africa’s most loved comedians to keep the audience in stitches: the stage will be shared by Tats Nkonzo, Schalk Bezuidenhout, Kurt Schoonraad and John Vlismas who will be working to make viewers chuckle, while Stuart Taylor will once again act as host and ringmaster and DJ Ready D will be creating an electric atmosphere.

The show will be a combination of jokes and music and will run for two and a half hours. It will also be one of the last times that funny man Vlismas performs comedy in front of an audience.

“I’ve decided to make a few new life choices and this will be one of my last public shows,” he told Fourways Review in the lead-up to the Big 5 Comedy Show. “I’ve started a new business and am just focusing on other things such as teaching.”

This is the second year Vlismas has been part of the line-up and he is excited to participate once again.

“I’m excited, it’s going to be very cool and have a great line-up. Last year the audiences were amazing. I’m known to be rude and controversial, and I’ll definitely be rudest during this show.

“I usually prepare by making a few notes for myself in a mind map [before I go on stage to perform], but don’t prepare too much because I don’t want to be too formulaic. I also make a point to bring up what’s topical and interact with the audience.”

Vlismas urged members of the public to support the local talent in the show while enjoying a fun night out.

“I know money’s tight for everyone right now, but if you’re planning on going to one comedy show in the future, I think it should be this one. It’s good quality comedy, a good line-up and will have something for everyone.”

The Big 5 Comedy Show runs at the Teatro Theatre from 26 to 27 July and tickets range from R280 to R350.
