Fourways resident selected as finalist for Tammy Taylor Mrs South Africa

BEVERLEY – Sherry-Ann James, a wife and mother from Beverley, has been chosen as one of the 25 top finalists for this year's Mrs South Africa pageant.

Beverley resident Sherry-Ann James has been selected as one of the 25 finalists for this year’s Tammy Taylor Mrs South Africa pageant.

The pageant is for married women between the age of 25 and 49 with the aim of empowering them, and women from around the country are welcome to participate. At the end of June, the top 100 finalists were whittled down to 25 finalists who are now vying for the crown.

“The top 25 Tammy Taylor Mrs South Africa finalists were selected based on a judging process,” James explained.

“We were scored on swimwear, as well as an interview with four out of five of our judges. As with most interviews, it was rather daunting, but I was confident that I would do well as I had prepared and I was soaked in understanding my purpose.”

The 25 finalists will fundraise for the Women 4 Women non-profit organisation which hopes to empower and uplift women in less fortunate communities.

“As a finalist, we each need to host events in order to raise as much money as we can in order to assist the organisation’s efforts in providing bursaries to underprivileged young girls and empowering underprivileged women in South Africa.”

While James is elated to have made it to the next round of the competition, she also understands she now has a huge responsibility to use the platform to make a difference in her community.

“My Tammy Taylor Mrs South Africa journey has been so far. Aside from the fact that I have grown in heaps and bounds, I have met some of the most amazing people who have now become my sisters.”

The Tammy Taylor Mrs South Africa grand finale will be hosted at Emperor’s Palace on 9 November where the winner will be announced.
