You could have heard a pin drop on Monday morning at the press conference at The Sandton Convention Centre as Patrice Motsepe from The Motsepe Foundation and British celeb and human rights activist Naomi Campbell announced the Global Citizen Festival: Mandela 100 line up – headlined by Beyoncé & JAY-Z, Cassper Nyovest, D’banj, Ed Sheeran, …

You could have heard a pin drop on Monday morning at the press conference at The Sandton Convention Centre as Patrice Motsepe from The Motsepe Foundation and British celeb and human rights activist Naomi Campbell announced the Global Citizen Festival: Mandela 100 line up – headlined by Beyoncé & JAY-Z, Cassper Nyovest, D’banj, Ed Sheeran, Eddie Vedder, Femi Kuti, Pharrell Williams & Chris Martin, Sho Madjozi, Tiwa Savage, Usher, and Wizkid – this is the line up to beat all line ups, let’s be honest.
This was followed by a gasp as they then told the assembled media that the tickets were free, and then that the people of South Africa had to earn them by doing good deeds in their local communities (silence punctuated only by the tapping of fingernails on glass as Twitter started to literally blow up).
So by now we are sure that you have heard who all is coming, but do you know what you need to do to start earning your spot at the free festival? No? Read on…

Global Citizens are required to start taking action on health and nutrition, education, gender equality, water and sanitation, and the criminalization of poverty – as well as getting their friends and family involved, and even holding Ministers of portfolios such as housing and sanitation to their promises and taking them to task if they do not deliver – we LOVE this!
Budding and established activists and music fans can begin to earn their free tickets starting on August 21st and can start signing up on the app today, even you and I can start demanding world leaders make major investments to end extreme poverty and take a stand for women and girls.
The more you do the more points you earn, the more points you earn the better your chances of going in to the draw to get your tickets – not so easy, right? But totally worth it!

Global Citizen is proud to join forces with the most forward thinking and innovative organizations committed to the mission and movement of ending extreme poverty.

Ending poverty, ending hunger and malnutrition, healthy lives for all, quality education for all children, ending female discrimination, combatting ocean pollution and more are on the cards.
Our country is set to change on one epic way – and often the domino effect occurs, seeing others doing good and getting involved, and if it takes concert tickets to get the people motivated, then so be it – we are looking forward to watching this unfold and being involved!
