The event was held at Lonehill Park in Lonehill and combined a Christmas market with about 20 stalls along with the tradition carol singing, and plenty of entertainment for the whole family.

The market ran for most of the day, opening at 11am and only closing once the performances began at 5pm.

“We [had] a big stage set up [for the performances and singing] and the programme included a short nativity scene performance and the arrival of our special guest dressed in red,” explained Shelley Miller of the association. “Followed by two hours of non-stop Christmas songs and carols with Tony Bala, Ashlinn Gray, Jo Tomlinson and Chad Jubber.”

Families were invited to attend the concert from 5pm to 8pm and set out their blankets and snacks on the park grounds in front of the stage so they could enjoy the show.

Stephen Jack, a pastor at GodFirst Fourways Church, was invited to give the opening message before the performances started. He even donned a Christmas hat in the spirit of the season.

Residents joined in as celebrities sang a number of Christmas favourites including Away in a Manger, The Twelve Days of Christmas, Deck the Halls and Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer.

“The association would like to acknowledge and thank everyone for their continued support and generous contributions to this event,” said Miller.

“Particularly Fidelity Security Services, Lew Geffen Sotheby’s Lonehill, Engel and Volkers Lonehill, Huizemark Lonehill, Plumber at your Service Lonehill, Jungle Tots, Jawitz Properties, MTN Fibre Lonehill and Mith Tabata Buchanan Boyes.”
