Get to know Montecasino’s new general manager, Mike Page

“I am simple, thoughtful and focused,” these were the words shared in an in-depth interview with the new general manager of Montecasino, Mike Page.

“I was born and bred here in Johannesburg, I went to school here and lived here most of my life,” Page said.

Due to his love for finance, Page embarked on a journey which saw him working in the casino and hospitality world for about 20 years. “I am a very passionate person and the love I have for people has driven me to do what I do today. My financial qualification helps me to make money and my hospitality experience helps me to ensure that people are happy with the service I bring,” he said.

Page started working in his 20s as an auditor for Sun International and then became a financial manager. “Through auditing casinos and hotels, that’s how I got into this whole business.”

He added that he always wanted to work with people, as well as being able to provide for customers who wanted to buy.

When asked how he felt about being the new general manager of Montecasino, Page said, “To be honest, I was very happy at Gold Reef City as I was there for quite some time but now I can safely say that I am extremely happy that I am here and I am also happy that I took the challenge.”

Page shared that his future plans for Montecasino were to make sure that the restaurant side is world-class and that the challenge was to take it back 17 years ago when it was first started.

“Community members can look forward to the best service and wonderful and exhilarating entertainment to escape to in Fourways area.”

He further added that his love for people has sparked an interest to learn different languages. “I know how to speak Xhosa and Swali. I also speak Afrikaans and now I have learnt how to speak Mandarin. Through my knowledge of speaking Mandarin, I was able to communicate with the Chinese community who are based in the south of Johannesburg, which has shown the importance of people skills.”

Page concluded that Montecasino is a destination people should look for and he assured to bring the best service to the public, when visiting the casino.

“Bringing the best service is very important to us as Montecasino as well as the safety of our customers for we have a 100 per cent safety tolerance and we strive to make sure that our customers are happy and well taken care of, be it at hotels or restaurants.”
