Kyalami’s Makgofe Moagi tells all

KYALAMI – Get to know actress Makgofe Moagi and her work.

Actress, TV presenter and philanthropist Makgofe Moagi says young people who want to work in the entertainment industry must pursue their education first.

This Kyalami resident acted in the popular soapie Muvhango as Palesa as well as 90 Plein Street and more productions. Currently, Makgofe is most fondly known for her role as Charity Ramabu in the popular drama series Skeem Saam. She has over two decades of experience in various forms of entertainment, including acting, television advertisement cameos, modelling and voice-over work.

Acting is not an easy path to take, said Moagi, because there is a lot of rejection and it can break anyone’s confidence, especially children. “It’s not the way Hollywood portrays it. You need an education to fall back on in case the industry does not give you the break you want.”

From a young age, Moagi has had a vision to better the lives of those around her. While growing up in the small mining town of Phalaborwa in Limpopo, she nurtured her philanthropic spirit by helping children in impoverished communities and making a difference.

“I believe in a purpose led existence. To be, is not enough. If I can have all the success but never change a life for the better, I don’t know if I want success at all. My vision is to work and move with a purpose,” she said.

She also co-owns SelMak, a wellness and healthcare facility that promotes a homeopathic approach to healing in Phalaborwa and serves as executive producer of In The Spotlight With Makgofe, a talk show that covers a cocktail of topics that affect society at large which is produced by Serurubele Pictures.
