Young, aspiring artist dreams of helping others

BRYANSTON – Zimbabwean-born artist dreams to grow and inspire fellow artists.

Tawanda Moyo, an artist living in Bryanston, began drawing from a young age with the hopes of becoming a recognised artist.

At the age of seven, he lost his father and it was during that difficult year that he began to immerse himself in the craft of drawing.

Now 26, he was urged by friends and family to continue to grow his passion as they believed he had potential. In the past, Moyo was hesitant to sell his work, but has now changed his mind.

This change of spirit occurred after drawing a portrait of a friend who found his drawing of her to be representative of hope. “I normally used to keep my artwork when I was done with them, without knowing what to do with them. Now I am hoping to get a sponsor so that I can create good work,” Moyo said.

“My dream is to have this talent I have, grow; and to help other people like me.”

Moyo hopes that his artwork can help him and his struggling mother survive, as well as to give hope to others who are going through dark times.
