Loyiso Gola, live in New York

JOHANNESBURG – South African comedian takes his comedy to the US.

Renowned jokester, Loyiso Gola, who is also a two-time Emmy-nominated comedian, took his frank and outspoken comedy to an audience in the US.

Gola, who is renowned for starring in his hit political satire show, Late Nite News with Loyiso Gola, held nothing back in his first US comedy TV special titled Live in New York.

The comedian has been featured in the New York Times and the Wall Street Journal, and on television in shows such as Comedy Central Africa, BBC’s Mock the Week, and The Weekly with Charlie Pickering in Australia.

In the TV show filmed before a live audience at Bushwick’s Brooklyn’s House of Yes, Gola is seen demonstrating his keen ability to see through the often ludicrous nature of American politics and culture. From police brutality and gun control to racism, the comedian serves as a somewhat soothsayer to what transpired in the recent US presidential election.
