Dangerous fence fixed

SANDTON – A low hanging fence has been fixed after it posed a hazard to pedestrians using the walkway.

A low-hanging security fence at the Bryanston Village on North Road has been fixed because it was endangering pedestrians walking past.

A concerned resident, Clive Rothery, helped bring this to the attention of the village, stating that the barbed wire fence was illegal and dangerous, and the barbs were less than six feet from the ground and encroached halfway over the pedestrian walkway on the public side of the wall. “I am scared that someone would walk into the low hanging fence at night,” said Rothery.

The village’s manager, Phillip Strauss said, “We are pleased to update that we cleaned our side. We are in the process of doing the last bit – material and more labour is required. Even the dumping corner was cleaned and we would like to thank our sponsors.

“In my opinion, this is 100 per cent safe and looks 100 per cent better than most of the older areas including the south side of North Street.”
