Electro-music producer takes over the city

JOBURG – A Cape Town-born musician aims to make it big in Johannesburg.

From the Mother City to the City of Gold, this music producer is looking to impress Joburgers with his musical talents.

Sam Jensen, a Cape Town-born electronic music producer, DJ and self-proclaimed dance music ambassador, has a rich history in the music scene.

His passion for music started as a young boy, listening to his dad’s records and dreaming of making his own songs. As a teenager, he fell in love with playing guitar, piano and violin, later being introduced to music programming by his older brother and was instantly hooked on producing electronic beats.

Having grown up surrounded by music, Jensen has picked up different styles and genres that continue to influence his production style today. Some of his musical influences include artists such as Tiësto, Avicii, Armin van Buuren and David Guetta among others.

The young, charismatic, and energetic music lover has consistently worked over the years to put together a solid body of work that has now culminated in the release of his new album Oceans and Skies.

“I was at a lodge once and I gazed at this beautiful person at the bar area, as the one described in the song. It inspired the lyrics and feel of the song,” he explained the inspiration behind the name of the album and the lead single.

The album is full of upbeat and memorable tracks and features Mark Beling, Andy Klee and Idols winner David van Vuuren on a number of collaborations.

Sam is a regular feature on the local club scene, keeping himself in touch with the latest trends. “I love making music that is contemporary and in touch with what people want. I am always aware of the hottest sounds and love seeing the reaction of the crowd when they hear my tracks – that’s what keeps me going!”

Oceans and Skies is inspired by Sam’s fun and light outlook on life that translates so effortlessly on the single and the album – a perfect release for summer.

In the future, he aims to reach international stages. “Getting gigs at large local and international events [is what I see myself doing in five years]. But I’m enjoying the journey as much as I’ll enjoy the destination,” he concluded.
