Sit-down interview with Celtic Woman

MAGALIESSIG – Read to find out what Irish female singing sensation group, Celtic Woman had to say about performing in Johannesburg for the first time.

Irish female singing sensation group, Celtic Woman, is making their way to the country and will be performing on 16 and 17 September at Montecasino’s Teatro due to exceptional demand.

“We are so excited for our upcoming tour to South Africa. This will actually be our first time performing in Johannesburg. Visiting Johannesburg has been on my bucket list since I was a little girl. And I can’t believe that I finally get to tick it off the list next week. I never dreamed I would get to perform there. So it really is a dream come true,” Celtic Woman’s Eabha McMahon said.

This is thanks to Big Concerts who confirmed a third date for the Irish female singing sensation group, Celtic Woman. The group will also be performing at Big Top Arena, Carnival City, on 18 September.

Celtic Woman will be supported by the Mzansi Youth Choir and presented in partnership with RSG and Channel24.

“We think that the audience can expect to get a real sense of Irish culture and heritage after watching the show. The Irish are notorious for storytelling through song and poetry, about the past and the present, heartache and celebration. Our show is uplifting and beautiful. One moment the audience will be on their feet dancing and singing, and five minutes later they will be wiping tears from their eyes. Celtic music is primal, powerful and accessible to people of all ages. It really takes you on a journey. It is such a special experience to perform every night. The audience makes the show what it is. Their emotion and enthusiasm drive our performance,” McMahon said.

The group has been named Billboard magazine’s World Album Artist of the Year six times, and was described as a one-of-a-kind musical entity that showcases gifted young Irish women; world-class vocalists and a dazzling Celtic violinist, whose talent and charisma help to bring centuries of musical and cultural tradition to vibrant life in the group’s recordings and concert performances.

When asked how they related to different audiences as an all-female Irish musical group, the group said that one of the best parts about touring and singing around the world is that they get to perform for different audiences every night. “I feel that no matter where we go, we create common ground with our audiences. Everyone, no matter where you are from, shares the ability ‘to feel’. Whether that is feeling happy, sad, joyful, uplifted or reminiscent, emotion transcends all languages and cultures. Therefore, wherever we perform, we always manage to make that strong connection with the audiences.”
