Australian chef in the City of Gold

JOBURG – Australian chef takes his knowledge to the Good Food and Wine Show.

One of Australia’s top chefs is officially in the country and is sharing his culinary knowledge.

Matt Moran, one of Australia’s top chefs, restaurateurs and food judges, has made his way to South Africa to share his knowledge and experiences with South African food lovers at this year’s Good Food and Wine Show.

“I’m really excited to visit Johannesburg,” Moran said.

“It’s great to chat with people who share my love of good food and to meet some of the local suppliers and growers and hear their stories, to me that’s very inspirational.”

Also keen to tell the crowds about his favourite recipes, Moran continued, “I have some great recipes and tips that I will share with everyone.”

Moran has more than 30 years of culinary experience and with that comes great knowledge of food and wine pairing – perfect for the three-day food extravaganza being held at the TicketPro Dome.

“I think a lot of people have a lot of confusion when understanding how to choose the best wines; whether to have wine warm or chilled, sweet verse fruity verse dry, cork or screw tops. It’s all about what makes the wine taste great and knowing some pointers before choosing your bottle really helps – so does tasting different varieties too,” he said.

Excited about taking in some sightseeing in Johannesburg, Moran said, “Checking out what Johannesburg has to offer – I’ve never been before so it’s pretty exciting. My schedule is pretty busy but if there is time, I’m keen to head to one of the game reserves too – that would be amazing to see.”

Travelling to South Africa to teach the masses about food and wine, while exciting, is not the culmination of his aspirations in the industry because Moran has travelled the world, opened 10 of his own restaurants and is looking forward to many more exciting projects taking shape in the near future.

He concluded that in his craft he was forever evolving and looked to keep seizing each opportunity in the culinary space. So don’t miss this dynamic chef at the Good Food and Wine Show from 29 to 31 July at the TicketPro Dome.
