Guests enjoyed indulgent treats at a Winter High Tea held at Montecasino’s Palazzo Hotel on 24 June.

The menu featured fine winter decadence with a sumptuous range of savoury and sweet treats.

“High tea at the Palazzo is a special occasion. It is an opportunity for guests to sit back and relax for the afternoon with someone special, and enjoy the extravagance of the high tea offering.

The Palazzo setting, with lush gardens in which to enjoy the highveld winter sunshine, combined with the palatial Tuscan-themed architecture, combine to make this Winter High Tea a truly memorable treat,” said Robert Jasper, general manager of The Palazzo Hotel.

Renowned for its luxurious high teas, The Palazzo’s winter variation includes homemade apple pie, chocolate chilli torte, lemon and ginger cupcakes, malva pudding with a milk tart topping, raspberry cheesecake and classic chocolate tart, as well as assorted sandwiches such as cured salmon with cucumber and crème fraiche, beef pastrami with rocket and pickled red onion, Swiss cheese and tomato chutney, and turkey with peach confit.

Also on the menu were assorted quiches including spinach and feta and smoked salmon and cheese, as well as fresh scones with jam, grated cheese and cream. All is accompanied by a delectable selection of freshly-brewed teas and coffee.

The price for the Winter High Tea has remained unchanged at R220 per person and is available every day from 2pm to 5pm until 31 August.
