DA hosts tea with mayoral candidate

JOBURG – DA mayoral candidate Herman Mashaba urges attendees at Parkview Golf Club to make the right decision when they vote on 3 August.

In the build-up to the municipal elections, the Democratic Alliance hosted a tea with former party leader Helen Zille and Johannesburg mayoral candidate Herman Mashaba at Parkview Golf Course.

Mashaba was introduced to the guests by Zille and he talked about his plans for Johannesburg if he were to be voted in as mayor in the upcoming local government elections. He said he was ready to lead a government that listened to the concerns of the people, and wanted to be mayor so he could serve Johannesburg and turn it into the great city that it could be.

Mashaba said his business acumen allowed him deeper insight into the current state of the South African economy. “Overnight, I dropped everything and I said to myself: ‘Herman, if you don’t lead, then who will’,” he said.

Mashaba added that he did not want his children to think that he knew what was going on in this country but did nothing about it.

He concluded by urging those in attendance to vote wisely on 3 August and make sure that his party took over the city of Johannesburg.

Ward 87 councillor, Amanda Forsythe, said it was a great honour to have Zille and Mashaba in her ward as it was one of the last official events before she stood down as councillor.
