Relive your childhood

MAGALIESSIG – Slava's Snowshow will leave Montecasino's Teatro audiences ankle-deep in snow.

A magical world of dreams awaits those wanting to revive their inner child at the Slava’s Snowshow at Montecasino’s Teatro on 26 July until 14 August.

The show’s creator is Russian master clown legend, Slava Polunin.

The clown is considered an icon of Russian culture and his show has brought joy to millions across the globe for more than 20 years. The unique and constantly evolving comedy has played in more than 120 cities including New York, London, Sydney, Paris, Rome, Hong Kong, Moscow and Rio de Janeiro.

“What the audience can expect from the Snowshow is a journey into their childhood… They can expect a trip into a world of bright colours, true feelings and important small details, details that one only notices when young,” said Polunin.

He added that each person would see his or her own story in the show. “This is very important to me, as the most magical aspect of this show is the intimate communication with the audience which, in this case, is non-verbal with elusive fibres of contact which often appear between an artist and spectator during the show. This very subtle interaction creates the magic of theatre,” he said.

The show is set to transport audiences to dream-like places such as a bed becoming a boat in a storm-tossed sea, a woman wrapped in cellophane who becomes flowers in a vase, and a child walking in amazement inside a bubble, to mention a few. The finale will see a letter turn into snowflakes which will whirl around the auditorium leaving the audience ankle-deep in snow.

“I love absurd and fantastic reality and I do not trust the spoken word, that is what made me choose clowning. For me, expression without words is much more organic and natural than using words on stage. Visual language is much richer, more personalised and elusive, and that is why I have not even thought of using words,” Polunin said.
