Celebrate Youth Month at Skoobs

In commemoration of Youth Month, a charity concert will be held in order to help collect warm clothes and blankets for the children of St Mary’s Children’s Home.

This is thanks to the South African Applause Rising Talent Showcase (Arts) team who will host the concert at Skoobs, Theatre of Books in Montecasino on 17 June. Community members are invited to attend the two-hour event will start at 6.45pm for 7pm.

Entrance to the concert is a donation of anything warm from jackets and scarves to blankets which will later be handed over to home.

The charity event will feature performances ranging from comedy, singing, dance, poetry.

The event will be organised by young Zanda Isaacs, who is a Zulu performer and also a member of the South African team travelling to the USA. The 19-year-old singer, dancer and actress is extremely passionate about giving back to the community.

Isaacs is a regular volunteer at St Mary’s Children’s Home, teaching a group of children singing, drama and dance. She is on her way to starting a non-profit organisation called, We are able, which will provide opportunities in the arts for disabled and disadvantaged youth.

Assisting Isaacs with organising the charity event will be owner of Skoobs, Deborah du Plooy. She is known as a confident and energetic woman who is extremely passionate about supporting and uplifting South African artists and authors.

St Mary’s Children’s Home is a non-profit organisation which offers residential care for children and offers a safe, secure home and a therapeutic environment for children from families in crisis on a completely non-discriminatory basis.
