‘Mrs Right Guy’ premiere showcases in style

JOBURG - The premiere of 'Mrs Right Guy' took place recently and it was nothing less than stylish.

The premiere of Mrs Right Guy took place at the Zone @ Rosebank a week before the film’s official release on 27 May.

With a red carpet welcoming invited guests to the premiere, the night was set to be filled with glamour. Actors of the movie shone on the red carpet as they donned fashionable attire and promoted the movie.

The film is a romantic comedy and stars Dineo Moeketsi as the lovelorn Gugu Hlatshwayo.

“Dineo is one of the hottest properties on the South African entertainment scene at the moment. Mrs Right Guy is the perfect vehicle for her big screen debut. It’s a modern take on millennials and the struggles they face in finding true love. But it’s also a fun, escapist comedy about the pitfalls of romance and the challenges facing the contemporary single woman,” said director, Adze Ugah.

Ugah achieved an honours degree from the South African School of Film and Drama and has worked as assistant director on the SABC 1 TV drama series Home Affairs and the feature film series Heartlines, as well as City Sesla.

Mrs Right Guy begins Hlatshwayo’s tale of woe when she is left destitute and heartbroken on an island on her honeymoon. Back home and cynical about love, she then meets two eligible young men – serial seducer Dumile, played by Thapelo Mokoena, and regular good guy Joe, played by Lehasa Moloi. One is a sure-fire way to heartbreak, and the other a guaranteed ticket to true love and happiness.

Moloi, in the role of Joe, has hosted e.tv’s music and gadget review magazine show Mgongo since 2012. He has appeared in TV commercials and series, music videos and various soapies including Rhythm City and Isidingo. In Spud: The Movie he played PJ Luthuli.

Mokoena, in the role of playboy Dumile, presented the first season of the South African version of Fear Factor in 2005. He has appeared in the SABC1 soapie Generations and the drama series Mzansi. Mokoena was also one of the celebrities to compete in the sixth season of the SABC 3 reality competition, Strictly Come Dancing, in 2013. In 2014, he hosted the e.tv reality makeover series Sinawe72.

Mrs Right Guy was funded by the National Film and Video Foundation, in association with the Gauteng Film Commission, The Department of Trade and Industry and support from the KwaZulu-Natal Film Commission. A Fuze Films production, the film was produced by Dumi Gumbi, Kethiwe Ngcobo, Mokopi Shale and Cati Weinek. The film is being distributed in South Africa by Indigenous Film Distribution.
