Miss Gay Jozi returns

JOHANNESBURG – Miss Gay Jozi is back at the Johannesburg City Hall

Miss Gay Jozi, a pageant for the gay and drag communities of Gauteng, is back.

It is a platform that allows the gay and drag queen communities of Gauteng to compete to be crowned the most eligible ‘woman’ in the city.

This year, the pageant is set to take place in Johannesburg’s inner-city on 28 May at the Johannesburg City Hall.

“The criteria for this year is really the same as every other year,” explained Zsa Zsa, pageant co-ordinator and emcee of the night.

“We’re looking for someone who believes in themselves and someone who stands up for the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender/Transexual and Intersexed (LGBTI) community by using their title and their character, and through the work she will be doing as the winner of the pageant.”

Miss Gay Jozi contestants are also judged on several criteria which include three outfit changes, poise, grooming, and the all-important final questions set by the judges themselves.

Zsa Zsa also explained that there will be a number of fabulous drag performers on the night of the event, most of which are titled pageant winners themselves.

Attendees of the event will be able to check out the talent of the top 10 ‘ladies’ who were chosen from a group of 18 fiercely-competitive drag queens and proudly gay ‘ladies’.

The 10 contestants will be pushed to their limits during each part of the pageant in order for the six esteemed judges to choose the final and most eligible winner to reign as Miss Gay Jozi for the next year.

It’s set to be an exciting night of fun, glamour and fabulousness, so make sure not to miss out on this year’s Miss Gay Jozi pageant.

Tickets can be purchased at the door on 28 May.
