Excitment arises at the BBC Worldwide Winter Upfront

Petrol heads and fishing fanatics gathered at the BBC Worldwide Winter Upfront as they showcased the diverse programmes which will make their way to South Africa this winter.

The enthusiastic guests were treated to a sneak preview of the various programmes that are showcased on different channels such as BBC Brit, BBC Lifestyle, BBC First, BBC Earth, World News and CBeebies viewed only on DStv.

The Winter Upfront event, which took place at Pineslopes in Fourways on 17 May, revealed that the new Top Gear series will kick-start its winter season programming on BBC Brit on 1 June at 8pm.

Present at the event to help launch Top Gear was The Stig and the show’s new presenter, Chris Harris. Harris shared with the audience his experience of test-driving cars for Top Gear.

“I was so amazed when Top Gear called me to test-drive for them. Like, imagine Top Gear calling you! I really had a blast doing this season’s shows,” Harris said.

Also at the Winter Upfront was Fishing Impossible cast members, The Blowfish and Charlie Butcher, who shared their fishing journey in the show’s season which allowed them to see different species of fish from different parts of the world.

Head of programming South Africa, BBC Worldwide, Kully Kaur-Bains said, “We are delighted to be joined by such spectacular talent at this year’s Winter Upfront to help launch the all-new Top Gear series on BBC Brit, as well as a new original commission for our channels. These are just two of the premium shows in our gripping winter season line-up.”
