Comedy genius presents a musical extravaganza

JOHANNESBURG – Deep Fried Man takes on the world of music in his comedy-musical extravaganza

One of comedy’s most notorious, Deep Fried Man, is bringing something new to the industry during his time on stage at the Lyric Theatre.

The Whacked talent management company implores you to take your seat and experience only the finest in musical comedy goodness.

Deep Fried Man has won numerous awards, performed on some of South Africa’s biggest and best stages, been a part of three Comedy Central specials and contributed to Emmy-nominated television shows such as Late Nite News with Loyiso Gola and ZANews: Puppet Nation.

Now he brings you his fourth one-man show, and it is set to be fresh, topical, relevant and witty, titled In Good Taste.

Take a selection of hilarious songs marinated for at least a year in tangy satire, pair it with a carefully selected blend of musical styles, then gently place the whole thing in a deep fat fryer, and you have all the ingredients necessary for a night of tasteful entertainment.

While it is a show that is sure to be tastefully done, at times Deep Fried Man’s lyrics do test the limits of what is considered to be In Good Taste.

There is no topic that Deep Fried Man won’t tackle in his comedy, but wherever he ventures, he is sure to find a unique angle on the subject and get the audience laughing at topics and issues that bravely take them to places that many comedians would be afraid to venture.

He describes the show as ‘a sort of one-man musical comedy extravaganza’.

In Good Taste will also be more musically and visually exciting than anything Deep Fried Man has done before – expect video visuals, looping machines, audience participation, improvisation and musical accompaniment provided by his sidekick, the enigmatic El Niño.

Place all of the above in the Lyric Theatre for one hour and 20 minutes, and the result is a musical comedy extravaganza that is not to be missed.

Catch the hilarious musical on 27 and 28 May.
