Would you know where you are if you saw this …

JOBURG - It’s that time again to find out how well you know the street art in your city.

As we already know, Joburg can sometimes be a dangerous and disorientating place to visit, but that’s not a good enough reason to avoid the city.

There are a number of safe places to visit, most of which bear the most beautiful, weird and wonderful pieces of street art.

This piece of street art falls into the ‘weird and disturbing’ category, making it a work of art which wouldn’t be forgotten.

So, do you know where this piece is situated in the city?

If you see this street art, then you are once again on the lower half of Gwigwi Mrwebi Street in Newtown.

There are a number of places you can visit from this spot.

In the same street you will find the popular Carfax venue, where a number of music events are held each month; as well as Craft Coffee, where you enjoy some of the best-brewed coffee in the city while connecting to free WiFi.

Finally, you could visit Newtown Junction, Newtown’s own shopping mall, where you can catch a movie, hit the gym, shop for some new threads or sit down for a bite in their food court.

If venturing further out is what you’re interested in, then you could find Museum Africa and Mary Fitzgerald Square opposite each other, or you could visit Bassline to immerse yourself in South Africa’s jazz history and listen to some groovy music.

If you find yourself in this area of Newtown, there is no need to fret because this street is always under the watchful eye of a trusty security guard who will make sure that no funny business takes place.
