#NewYearMovies to look forward to in 2016

JOBURG - United International Pictures in Sandton is already preparing for next year’s movie calendar.

It looks like January will be off to a great start with the list of movies lined up from Paramount Pictures and Universal Pictures.

Sisters

This is a comedy starring Tina Fey, Amy Poehler, Maya Rudolph, Ike Barinholtz, John Leguizamo, Dianne Wiest, John Cena and James Brolin. The movie will be released on 1 January and it is about two disconnected sisters summoned home to clean out their childhood bedroom before their parents sell the family house. Looking to recapture their glory days, they throw one final high school-style party for their classmates, which turns into an emotional session that a bunch of ground-down adults really need.

 

Zoolander 2

This sequel starring Ben Stiller will be released on 12 February. This movie follows the original 2001 film about a dim-witted male super-model turned wannabe spy and it earned 60.8 million worldwide at the box-office.

Remember

This film is a drama that will also be released on 12 February, starring Christopher Plummer and it is about an elderly man with dementia who goes in search of the person responsible for the death of his family.

Ride Along 2

Ice Cube and Kevin Hart thrill audiences in this action comedy film that will be released at cinemas on 15 January. This is the sequel to the blockbuster that gave audiences the one of most popular comedy duos.

The Big Short

Also to be released on 15 January, this film is an all-star cast starring Finn Wittrock, Brad Pitt, Christian Bale, Karen Gillan, Selena Gomez, Ryan Gosling, Marisa Tomei, Steve Carell and Max Greenfield. The film is about four outsiders in the world of high-finance who predicted the credit and housing bubble collapse of the mid-2000s and decide to take on the big banks for their lack of foresight and greed.

Suffragette

Carey Mulligan, Helena Bonham Carter, Brendan Gleeson, Anne-Marie Duff, Ben Whishaw and Meryl Streep star in this movie that will be released on 15 January. It is a thrilling drama that tracks the story of the foot soldiers of the early feminist movement, women who were forced underground to pursue a dangerous game of cat and mouse with an increasingly brutal State.

Hail Caesar!

Scarlett Johansson, Ralph Fiennes, Channing Tatum, George Clooney, Tilda Swinton and Josh Brolin star in this film that will be released on 19 February. The movie is simply about a Hollywood fixer in the 1950s who works to keep the studio’s stars in line.

Daddy’s Home

This fun-filled comedy will be released at cinemas on 22 January and it stars Linda Cardellini, Mark Wahlberg, Will Ferrell, Allessandra Ambrosio and Thomas Haden Church. A mild-mannered radio exec’s (Ferrell) life gets turned upside down when his wife’s ultra-attractive and supremely likeable ex-husband (Wahlberg) re-enters the picture. The two compete in the ultimate display of one-up-man-ship as they vie for the children’s affection.

The Danish Girl

This true-life drama starring Eddie Redmayne, Alicia Vikander, Ben Whishaw, Sebastian Koch, Amber Heard and Matthias Schoenaerts will be released on 29 January. The film is inspired by the true story of Danish painter Einar Wegener and his wife.
