BET Experience Africa hopes to become weekend-long festival

JOBURG - Viacom invited the talent of the BET Experience Africa to their offices in Hyde Park for a press briefing and they were ready to spill the beans about the much-anticipated festival.

BET Experience Africa, currently a one-day extravaganza, is a concept that senior vice president and managing director of Viacom, Alex Okosi, would like to grow into a weekend-long festival that emulates the BET Experience in the USA.

For the media briefing, Okosi and his team assembled a number of the performers and exhibitors from the festival including comedians Jason Goliath, Tatz Nkonzo, David Kau and Skhumba; musician Diamond Platnumz; sneaker freak, MK Fresh; petrol-head, Jim MacFarlane and one of the guest speakers at the Genius Talks, Kgomotso Matsunyane, to explain their roles in the experience.

MacFarlane’s presence was especially important at the briefing, as his team’s addition to the festival was officially announced. They will be bringing to the experience a spectacle of motor madness in the form of their exciting drifting show. They will take the public into the cars with trained professionals to experience the tyre-burning, extreme driving first-hand as they dodge and weave between cones.

MK Fresh of the TV series Ayashisa Amateki will be hosting a booth with his team where visitors can exchange, customise and wash their own sneakers, or even view some of the newest pairs of sneakers from local and international brands.

The comedians of the show are ready to let the world know that comedy is on the up and they have promised some of the most hilarious, side-splitting comedy they’ve ever produced.

In addition, businesswoman Kgomotso Matsunyane, and Fikile Mbalula, Minister of Sport and Recreation, will address the public in their Genius Talks for success at the BET Experience Africa.

Okosi is excited to bring this festival to South Africa – and with the talent he has brought together, there is no way it can fail.
