Laughter is good medicine

FOURWAYS – PROMINENT comedians performed to raise money for organisations that help foreign nationals under the theme Anti-Xenophobia at Montecasino’s Parker’s Comedy and Jive.

The show was organised by Aptitude Consulting and it lightened the heavy mood created by the recent xenophobic attacks that hit the country. The event was hosted by headline comedian, Chris Mapane who skilfully set the tone for the night by easing the xenophobic topic tension with a joke that had the full house in stitches.

Comedians who followed did not disappoint. These included edgy newcomer Eureka; a rising star and the only female comedian for the night, Lihle Lindzy; the ever impressive Mpho ‘Popps’ Modikoane; Limpopo-born SePedi comedian Mashabela; the hilarious Donovan Goliath; and TV personality Tol Ass Mo among others.

The show was also aimed at facilitating relationships between Africans and encouraging the importance of living together in unity. To emphasise this endeavour, Aptitude Consulting also invited Zimbabwean comedian Simba King who proved to be a great addition to the list.

A handful of celebrities, including Lunga Shabalala, Bernard Parker and Lonwabo Tsotsobe, showed their generosity towards the cause by not only attending the event, but buying tickets for their friends.

According to Ayanda Sotshisa of Aptitude Consulting, R11 500 was raised and would be given to the African Diaspora Forum and the Methodist Church.
