VIDEO: Mamma Mia! takes the stage
MONTECASINO - The Teatro at Montecasino has been invaded by dancing queens and love-struck Greek islanders since the opening night of Mamma Mia! on 24 March.
Mamma Mia! is Judy Craymer’s ingenious vision of staging the storytelling magic of Swedish pop ABBA’s timeless songs, with an enchanting tale of family and friendship unfolding on a Greek island paradise.
To date, it has been seen by more than 54 million people in 39 productions in 14 different languages. Mamma Mia! The Movie is the highest worldwide grossing live-action musical film of all time.

The story centres around Sophie Sheridan’s romance with love interest, Sky and her search to find her biological father to walk her down the aisle at her wedding. Much to her mother, Donna’s dismay three of her past lovers arrive at her inn on a Greek island, all claiming to be Sophie’s father.
Sara Poyzer plays Donna in the production, with Shobna Gulati as Tanya and Sue Devaney as Rosie. Poyzer has also played Donna in the West End production of Mamma Mia!

The cast in the South African production also stars Poyzer’s real-life husband, Richard Standing as Sam Carmichael, Michael Beckley as Bill Austin, Mark Jardine as Harry Bright, Niamh Perry as Sophie Sheridan and Justin Thomas as Sky.
The musical has a four-week run at the Teatro at Montecasino.
