Show SA you’ve got talent

JOBURG - The nation's biggest talent search, SA's Got Talent, is returning for another thrilling season.

Executive producer Kee-Leen Irvine announced that the Joburg pre-auditions will take place on 7 and 8 June in Sandton.

“We can’t wait to see what Mzansi has to offer this year,” she said.

“Every year we are so impressed by the level of talent South Africa has. Last year’s semi-finals were sensational… We had Indian classical musicians, a magician, an aerial clown, an acrobat, a juggler, dubstep dancers, a ventriloquist, and… some phenomenal vocalists.”

Last year’s season saw over 6000 people audition.

The title and R250 000 grand prize was claimed by 16-year-old singer, Johnny Apple.

Apple has since signed a recording contract with Sony Music, and his debut album will be released in a few months’ time.

“With the competition so strong, we… encourage those who want to enter to start working on an act that will really impress the judges,” she said.

Irvine added that she welcomed performers of any age, background and talent.

“We are especially looking for acts with creativity and originality. We really want people to think out of the box, and this even applies to vocalists,” she said.

“So if you can sing beautiful opera, how about presenting your aria dressed up in a really unusual costume or while balancing on a see-saw? The judges are always looking for something new and different that will capture the nation’s imagination.”

Irvine said that being able to stand out from the crowd required hard work and preparation.

“Come and show us what you’ve got – it could be a life-changing experience,” she concluded.

The pre-auditions will take place at Focus Rooms, The Core, 1st Floor South, corner of Kikuyu and Leeuwkop streets, Sunninghill.

Entrants need to register for the auditions by sending an email or registering online.
