Ntando Zondi is preparing for his upcoming fight against Martin ‘Top Dog’ Gcinumkhondo set to take place at the EFC Performance Institute on June 6, in Paulshof.

Zondi boasts an outstanding amateur record of six wins and one loss, and he has already made a mark in the professional circuit with a record of one win and no losses.

With this strong start to his professional career, Zondi is determined to showcase his skills in the competitive flyweight division.

Zondi is a seasoned fighter with a strong background in kickboxing and has been preparing relentlessly ahead of the fight.

“I’ve been training hard and I’m ready for this fight. I know Martin is a tough opponent, but I’m confident and I’m looking forward to getting in there and giving it my all.”

Reflecting on his journey to the top, he said it all began in the world of kickboxing, where he honed his skills before making the switch to MMA.

“I decided to switch to MMA because it’s more well-rounded. I wanted to learn how to grapple and do jiu-jitsu. Kickboxing is just kickboxing, and I wanted to expand my skills.”

He said he is being trained by a team of experienced coaches such as Morné Visser and engages in sparring sessions with fighters such as the current UFC middleweight champion Dricus du Plessis and Stephan de la Rey.

“The training is very intense and physical, but it’s also very dynamic. They have good systems in place for stand-up and groundwork. It’s helped me improve my stand-up and ground game.”

When asked about his strategy going into the fight, Zondi was tight-lipped.

“My strategy is going off what he brings me whatever he wants to do, I’ll match it. If he wants to stand up or wrestle, I’ll do the same.”

He then said, “Only one man knows what’s going happen on that night. And all we can do is just show up. Best prepared. Whatever he brings, I promise to deliver even better than that.”

With his sights set on claiming another victory at EFC 114, Zondi is focused on making a name for himself in the MMA world.

“I’m a very competitive person, so it’s not about titles or anything for me. It’s about being competitive and trying to be the best version of myself.

“ I promise to deliver more Zulu magic like I said in my previous fight and like I said just recently, I plan to paint a beautiful picture and I believe EFC is a great canvas for me to work on. So expect fireworks.”
