Local paddler grabs 21st spot
Fourways paddler comes home with the 21st spot at the Berg River Canoe Marathon.
Fourways paddler Dylan Browne came 21st in the Berg River Canoe Marathon.
The four-day marathon is the longest canoe marathon in South Africa, stretching for about 240km from the Cape Winelands to the West Coast town of Velddrift.
The 21-year-old Browne is a member of the Emmarentia-based Dabulamanzi Canoe Club.
When he was a Dainfern College learner, he won the U16 Gauteng Canoe Union Schools League Series in 2017 and was named the Gauteng K2 Champions for 2017/2018 by the Gauteng Canoe Union.
For the record, defending champion Hank McGregor wrapped up his 13th Berg River Canoe Marathon title and in doing so, claimed the 2023 South African K1 River Marathon title.
